Aviator Five Day Camp
Day 1
The first day starts off with registration and the first safety briefing. Students will get their aviation bag and meet their team. Students will learn about basic principles of flight and get a first introduction to the airplanes that we will be flying. Students will then receive the destinations for their cross country flight.
Day 2
Students begin to plan their flight to local airports. The day is highlighted by the opportunity to fly in the simulator that allows students to practice flight maneuvers. During the ‘Meet the Professionals’ session students will have the opportunity to hear from aviation professionals. Airline and military pilots will be among the invited guests. As part of an aerodynamics lab, students will build a simple balsa plane for simulating different flight conditions. In addition, a trip to the control tower is planned. This is only available in the five day camp.
Day 3
Flight day. All students will get behind the controls for the cross country flight from Long Beach. Participants will have certified flight instructors guiding them throughout the cross country. After debrief, student pilots will have their first flight logged in their pilot logbook. During the first flight, each student will get about three hours of total flight time of which one hour of flight will be at the controls.
Day 4
Day four will include ground instruction followed by our ‘Meet the Professionals’. The day will include another facility tour which is still to be announced. Students will also participate in team and individual flight simulator contest. We will also have a career counselor available to help with college and career questions.
Dat 5
Day five will include another flight. This flight will include basic maneuvers to develop skills practiced in the flight simulator. Participants will wrap up the flight simulator tournament and meet another professional. Each ‘Meet the Professionals’ are scheduled just before lunch so that students can mingle informally with the guest speakers. Each speaker will speak for about 30 minutes. The five day camp will end with an awards ceremony.
Flyer Three Day Camp
Day 1
The three day camp starts off with registration and the first safety briefing. Students will get their aviation bag and meet their team. Students will learn about basic principles of flight and get a first introduction to the airplanes that we will be flying. This day is very similar to the five day camp except that some activities are shorter. Students will also receive the destinations for their cross country flight.
Day 2
Students begin to plan their flight to local airports.
Day 3
Flight day. All students will get behind the controls for their cross country flight. Guided by certified flight instructors, each participant will get behind the controls for about an hour of flight. The other students will observe the flight. All students will get about three hours of flight time. After the flight, students will receive a debriefing and have their first flight logged in their log book.
Flyer Two Day Camp
Day 1
The first day starts off with registration and the first safety briefing. Students will get their aviation bag and meet their team. Students will learn basic principles of flight and get a first introduction to the airplanes that we will be flying. Students will receive and plan for their cross country flight. The flight planning will include basic navigation information. The day includes the opportunity to fly a computer simulator to practice flight maneuvers.
Day 2
Flight day. All students will get behind the controls for the cross country flight from Long Beach. Participants will have certified flight instructors guiding them throughout the cross country. After debrief, student pilots will have their first flight logged in their very own logbook. During the first flight, each student will get about three hours of total flight time of which one hour of flight will be at the controls.
